VAS Fight Team - Champions Of Champions II - Montego Bay, Jamaica

July 1st, 2009

Nathan Corbett (AUS) vs Tyrone Spong (Netherlands)
The fight was originally set for Corbett’s WMC world title, but Spong refused to fight with elbows.

After years in the making these two world champion put on a great show from the start with Spong shaking up Carnage in the second which led to an 8 count but In true carnage fashion he kept his composure and came back better and more focused. The crowd was on the edge of their seats, then Carnage KO’s Spong in the 3rd! The ref gave Spong what seemed to be a 20 count while he was not positioned well between the two fighters, Carnage was unclear of what the ref was doing and jumps in and once again KO’s Spong causing an eruption from fans and team members. An epic fight!!!

Carnage KO's Spong

WMC Welterweight World title
John Wayne Parr (Australia) vs Buakaw Por.Pramuk (Thailand)

John Wayne Parr

The fight was JWP’s for the taking and he put on a great performance against the former K1 Max & Muay Thai world Champion Buakaw. It was a close fight with both champs landing some great shots and massive kicks but JWP unfortunately lost via decision. Congrats to Wayne and would love to see him get in there against Buakaw in the future!

WMC Womens Super Lightweight World title
Julie Kitchen (England) vs Angela Parr (Australia)

Angie Parr

An amazing fight by both and a true battle till the very end. Julie was constantly applying pressure with her intense work rate but Angie seemed content in counter attacking and landing some great shots. Great job by both ladies but Englands Julie Kitchen took the belt.

Big shout out to our good friends at Champions of Champions, CCGI Foundation and RISARC! Check out www.ccgifoundation.org

DONALD 'COWBOY' CERRONE BEATS KRAUSE AT WEC 41

 June 10th, 2009

VAS sponsored fighter Donald Cerrone showed once again that he's a complete, well-rounded fighter and one of the top two lightweights in WEC Sunday night, beating James Krause at WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber 2 in Sacramento.

Cerrone immediately called out WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner after the fight.

"Any time, anywhere, man," Cerrone said of his wish to fight Varner. "He's taken a lot away from me, saying that I don't deserve to fight him, I don't belong in the same ring with him."

Cerrone then looked at Varner, sitting cageside, and said, "You're a tough guy behind your computer and your cell phone."

Cerrone and Varner fought to a controversial split decision in January, with Varner coming out on top in a fight he couldn't finish because of injuries. Cerrone has questioned the legitimacy of Varner's injuries in the past, and did again Sunday night.

"Hopefully Jamie will get out of the intensive care unit and be able to fight," Cerrone said. "We'll see."

BRETT 'DA GRIM' ROGERS TAKES OUT ARLOVSKI IN 22 SECONDS!

June 7th, 2009

Brett Rogers

VAS Fight Team member Brett 'Da Grim'  Rogers took only 22 seconds to prove his place in heavy weight division by knocking out former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski.

Arlovski came out and threw a low leg kick, but that was the only modicum of offense that he would muster. Rogers followed by rocking Arlovski with a left hook then followed with a three-hook combination that sent the Belarusian to the canvas in a heap.

"That's what happens when you work hard," proclaimed Rogers after the fight. "I wasn't feeling respected. I gotta thank Arlovski for giving me the chance to come out here and prove that I can hang with the boys in the Top 10."

Huge congrats to 'Da Grim' on his victory and stay tuned for the potential title fight against Overeem!
